Billie Ruth Hopkins Furuichi, art activist and poet for over thirty years, is a fabric and digital artist, as well as a workshop facilitator. She brings grounded educational technology face-to-face with a visionary approach to the integration of arts education, spiritual growth, and societal change. She is currently available as a speaker and facilitator of her trademarked workshop practices using silk painting and the Transformation Wheel. Her work interweaves movement meditation, sacred dance, silk painting, haiku, original music and reframing techniques.
From 1987 to 1989, Billie Ruth organized and travelled as the leadership and training director with the Youth Ambassadors of America, on bi-lateral youth exchanges to the former Soviet Union. In 1992 she founded One Society International, a non-profit cultural exchange organization, which is currently conducting student exchange programs to Japan. Her life's mission is to mediate misunderstandings in communication and facilitate the honoring and celebration of diverse cultural traditions.
Billie Ruth is currently working on an innovative dream-fiction project, "Beating Back the Darkness - Anchoring the Light".
